At the heart of all we do are mothers and babies. As a mom, I wanted our products to reflect my enthusiasm for keeping babies' well-being in mind. How did we get our start?

I began babywearing when my first child was just a few days old, as it was the only way to keep her content and happy. However, I was never fully satisfied with the products I used, so I started making wraps and slings when my second child was born, as I couldn't find a sling or wrap made from the right fabric - they were either too stretchy, too stiff, or too hot, and I couldn't find any designs I liked.

What makes our products unique? Our slings and wraps are specially woven for babywearing; the fabrics will not stretch over time and hold the baby firmly in place, while still having the right amount of give to make them easy to put on and comfortable to wear. They are all individually handwoven and hand-dyed with plant-based dyes, and our fabrics are made from 100% natural fibers, making them breathable, comfortable, and lightweight.

Why do we love what we do? I am very passionate about babywearing and strongly believe in its benefits. When a baby can see the world from where their parents do, rather than from far below in a stroller, their senses are stimulated, and their attention is engaged, all while feeling safe and secure. This extra stimulation not only benefits brain development but also helps the baby quickly develop a sense of security and trust when carried close in a baby wrap or sling. Studies have shown that babywearing is good for the cognitive and social development of the child.

Hip Baby Wrap is a small, women-owned business in Miami, Florida. Our wraps and slings are all individually handmade in cooperatives under fair trade practices in India, supporting small villages and helping provide jobs for mothers and families to work from their homes. All of our products are made with non-toxic dyes, locally sourced high-grade cotton, and electricity-free manufacturing.
